CAT is a national level MBA entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission to their management programmes. This exam is conducted once a year in the month of November/December. It is a computer based test (CBT) of 3 hours duration. It tests the aptitude of the candidates in the areas of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR). The exam is conducted in two shifts and the score is accepted by all the IIMs and other top MBA colleges in India.
Common Admission Test (CAT) Entrance Test
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). It is a computer–based test conducted for admission to various postgraduate management courses such as the Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP), Post Graduate Program in Business Administration (PGPBA), and the Fellow Program in Management (FPM). The CAT is conducted every year in the month of November and the exam is divided into three sections – Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, and Logical Reasoning. The exam is held in multiple cities across India, and the duration of the exam is three hours. The exam consists of 100 questions and each question carries three marks. The total marks of the exam is 300. The questions include multiple–choice questions, type–in–the–answer questions, and questions with multiple answers. The exam also includes a section on essay writing.
Common Admission Test (CAT) Eligibility Criteria
1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) category).
3. Final year students of Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply for CAT exam.
4. There is no age limit to appear for CAT exam.
5. Candidates who have cleared their degree from any foreign university must obtain an equivalent certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
