A Bachelor of Film and Television (BFTV) is an undergraduate degree that combines film and television studies. This degree typically covers topics such as screenwriting, cinematography, editing, producing, directing, and media studies. Students may also take courses related to television such as broadcast journalism, documentary film, and media law. Many schools also offer courses in digital filmmaking and post–production. With the right combination of courses, students can develop their skills to become successful filmmakers, television producers, or other media professionals.
Bachelor of Film and Television (BFTV) Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Film and Television (BFTV) program, students must meet the following criteria:
1. Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Have achieved a minimum grade point average of 2.75 or higher in all high school courses.
3. Have a minimum of two years of college or university study and have achieved a grade point average of 2.75 or higher in all college/university courses.
4. Have a minimum of two years of professional work experience in the film and television industry.
5. Have completed the required prerequisite courses (such as English, Communications, Media Studies, and Visual Arts) with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
6. Submit a letter of intent to the program director outlining their educational and career goals.
7. Submit a resume demonstrating prior experience in the film and television industry.
8. Submit a writing sample demonstrating creativity, originality, and knowledge of the film and television industry.
9. Pass an interview with the program director, which may include a portfolio review.
10. Submit two letters of recommendation from professional references.
