The Common Entrance Test for Design (CETD) is an online entrance examination conducted by the National Institute of Design (NID) for admission in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. The NID CETD is conducted on an annual basis for admission into various design programmes offered by the various institutes under the aegis of NID. The test consists of two parts, namely the General Aptitude Test and the Creative Aptitude Test. The General Aptitude Test (GAT) is designed to assess the aptitude of the candidates in terms of their logical, analytical, verbal and numerical abilities. The Creative Aptitude Test (CAT) is designed to assess the creative aptitude of the candidate in terms of their potential to think out of the box and their ability to come up with innovative ideas. The NID CETD is conducted in two phases, namely the Preliminary and the Final Examination. The Preliminary Examination is a Computer Based Test (CBT) and the Final Examination consists of a Studio Test, a Situation Test and a Personal Interview.

The Common Entrance Test for Design (CETD) is a competitive examination that is conducted by the National Institute of Design (NID) for admission into the various Master‘s Degree programmes offered at the institute. Candidates who wish to take the CETD must meet the following eligibility criteria:
1. Candidates must have a Bachelor‘s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute.
2. Candidates must have a valid score in either the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or the Common Aptitude Test (CAT).
3. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of professional design experience.
4. Candidates must have a minimum of two reference letters from professionals in the design field.
5. Candidates must have a portfolio of design work which will be evaluated as a part of the admission process.
6. Candidates must have a valid passport and visa to study in India.
