The Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) is a professional body in India dedicated to the hospitality industry. It is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It was established in 1962 and is headquartered in New Delhi. IHM provides professional education and training in hotel and hospitality management. It runs various courses at postgraduate and undergraduate levels and offers certification in the fields of hotel and hospitality management. It also offers various short–term courses to enhance the skills of professionals in the hospitality industry. IHM has branches in various cities across India and is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT).
Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Entrance Test
The All India Institute of Hotel Management (AIHMT) Entrance Test is an entrance exam conducted by AIHMT for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The exam is conducted every year in the month of June. The exam consists of two parts – written test and personal interview.
The written test is conducted in multiple choice format and comprises of questions from English, Mathematics, General Knowledge, Hospitality and Tourism. The exam is designed to test the knowledge and aptitude of candidates in the field of hotel management. The personal interview is conducted to assess the communication skills and the attitude of the candidate.
The interviewers also evaluate the candidate‘s knowledge about the hospitality industry. Candidates must fulfill certain educational requirements in order to be eligible for the exam. The minimum educational requirement is a 10+2. Candidates must also possess good communication skills and have a good command of English.
The AIHMT Entrance Test is a competitive exam, and the scores obtained in the exam are used to determine the eligibility of the candidates for admission to the courses. Candidates who score well in the exam are eligible for admission to the institute.
Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Eligibility Criteria
The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) program is as follows:
• Candidates must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream from a recognized board with English as a compulsory subject. • Candidates must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in their 10+2 or its equivalent examination.
• Candidates appearing for their 10+2 or its equivalent examination can also apply for the program.
• Relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate marks is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category.
